Peacemakers

Matthew 5:9 speaks of them for they shall be called sons of God.  Adam was a peacemaker, but Cain was not.

Genealogy of Jesus starts with these individuals: Jesus Himself was about thirty years of age, being, as was supposed, the son of Joseph, the son of Eli, (24) the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, the son of Melchi, the son of Jannai, the son of Joseph, (...) and ends with these: (37) the son of Methuselah, the son of Enoch, the son of Jared, the son of Mahalaleel, the son of Cainan, (38) the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God (Luke 3:23-38).

Jesus comes from the line of peacemakers not through Cain but through Seth.

Let's connect now God's sons to peacemakers.

[Romans 8:13] for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

Paul and Peter both died, but John perhaps did not and there is a strong evidence (gleaning from the words of Jesus about John) that he was translated just as Enoch was.

Perhaps, Peter who carried a sword and did not hesitate to use it killed someone before? Paul was responsible for the murder of Stephen. They indeed lived by God's mercy and preached grace. But there is still a higher way.

[Romans 8:14; 19] For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. (19) For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God.

[1Kings 18:40] And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.

Obviously, it was not Elijah that slew the Baal's priests but the enraged mob. Elijah only allowed them to vent their righteous rage, but he himself did not do the slaying.
